Adelia

Adelia is half black American Shorthair, which makes her an amazing outcross for our program. She is considered an F1 Bombay, since the American Shorthair and the Sable Burmese were used to create the Bombay Breed. I intend to keep a sable girl out of her and breed her into my Burmese program, because I think Adelia is such a good example of the breed despite her recent outcrossing. Adelia loves to sit on cold surfaces right next to me - usually on tables or counters. She loves purring and rubbing on me, and is very quiet. She is such a great mama that she allows all the kittens regardless of what litter they are from to nurse off of her, and she has saved the life of a kitten whose mama rejected him. I love all my moms, but Adelia is special. She is gentle, she knows she is in charge, and she has such a calming, matronly presence. She kneads her paws into any sort of soft blanket she can find, and she is quick to purr. Her kittens have come out big and healthier than any other litter - they hardly get sick, they don’t get eye infections as easily when they are young, and they seem generally more robust than the other litters - which I attribute to her recent outcrossing.

Her kittens are considered outcross Bombays, or Sable Burmese, depending on the color and the association you register them with. Neither association allows her babies to be shown, but CFA will allow her Black babies to show and all of her babies’ babies to show. Her great grandbabies are the first generation that will be allowed to show in TICA, but all along they are still considered Bombay / Burmese depending on the color.

We had the pleasure of raising her babies born 5/22, 10/22, and 8/4/23.

Adelia has the ability to produce, black, sable, and champagne kittens.
